05/06/2026

Description

Meet online discussion group host, Vi Tang. Vi was born and raised in Vietnam. He was diagnosed with HCM in Vietnam when he was 15. He came to the US for college at 18. He received an ICD 2 years later and had a myectomy 3 years after that. Vi started working in Dr. Sharlene Day's research lab at the University of Michigan after college, studying the molecular mechanisms of HCM. He eventually received his PhD in Molecular and Integrative Physiology from the University of Michigan. He is now a postdoctoral fellow in the Seidman lab at Harvard Medical School, where he studies the various causes of cardiac hypertrophy and develops gene therapies for HCM. Outside of work, Vi enjoys cooking and traveling.

Meet online discussion group host Lynda Neuhausen. Lynda lives in Tampa Bay, Florida, and is a single mom of three. She experienced significant heart symptoms since age 39, but was not diagnosed with HCM until age 46 and had two myectomies in 2012. Lynda was a retail manager for 20 years and started her career as an attorney just before her diagnosis. She loves spending time with her kids, traveling, and meditation/yoga. Learning to live with this illness has been a journey for her, and she is willing and ready to lend and facilitate assistance and support to others on their journeys.

Note:  Unless otherwise specified, all event start times are displayed in Eastern Time Zone.  **Attendee privacy is essential; meetings are recorded by the HCMA for internal use only for quality assurance.
